In Five Years: Book Review

If anyone else is just like me, an overactive scheduled, type A, must-be-in-the-know at all times and very high strung about the future, this book is FOR YOU! 💡

In Five Years starts off with the protagonist Dannie, a very successful lawyer who appears to have it all. She’s got the career, a fiancé, a place to live and a BFF who she adores.

She is strategically following her 5 year plan in order to be everything she wants to be. Until she wakes up 5 years later with a new ring, a new man and in a new home. What just happened? Don’t worry I was confused too.

The television news is on in the background, and she can just make out the scrolling date. It’s the same night—December 15—but 2025, five years in the future.

After a very intense, shocking hour, Dannie wakes again, at the brink of midnight, back in 2020 (although she got lucky there was no COVID) so her 2020 tops ours in a way but not really, keep reading!)🙀

She can’t shake what has happened. It certainly felt much more than merely a dream, but she isn’t the kind of person who believes in visions. That nonsense is only charming coming from free-spirited types, like her lifelong best friend, Bella. Determined to ignore the odd experience, she files it away in the back of her mind.

Because don’t we all keep those messed up kinda creepy more than scary yucky dreams in the back of our mind? You don’t? 😅Well then never mind😬

That is, until four-and-a-half years later, when by chance Dannie meets the very same man from her long-ago vision. Only it’s Bella’s boyfriend. So how exactly does Dannie cope with her estranged vision?

This book is more heartbreaking than you’d imagine. I won’t spoil the deets but I cried more than once as the friendship love overcomes challenges no friends should go through. 💔

Sound like a good read? I THOUGHT SO! Be sure to put this on your Indigo Wishlist!
